Max Sowerby worked for a large national chain of estate agents back in the 1980s running offices in Norfolk and Suffolk. In May 1994 he decided it was time to break free from the large corporate umbrella and stand on his own two feet as an independent agent.
The perfect premises became available in Burnham Market - The Old Forge. At this time there was only one other agent in the town so healthy competition was needed. Sowerbys quietly built themselves an excellent reputation for personal service, presentation and above all professionalism and honesty. As the market share continued to expand, more people were needed.
Opposed to looking for experienced estate agent stereotypes, Max looked instead for good honest local people who knew the area and local properties well. These people had undergone the buying, selling or renting of their own homes in recent years and therefore are able to empathise with their clients and prospective purchasers.
