Garden Design Service

With a formal training in art and design and a lifetime's love of gardening, my aim is to link the aesthetic with the practical in creating beautiful gardens for individual private clients. Working in the South of England over the last sixteen years, garden design commissions have ranged from small town gardens to large country estates.

I am a full Member of the Society of Garden Designers ( MSGD ) which was set up to identify those designers whose work is of the highest professional standard.

If you need general advice on horticultural or design aspects for your garden, a two hour consultation may be all that is necessary. If a design plan is required, this consultation will then take the form of a brief enabling you to let me know your preferred style, budget, favourite plants etc. An initial fee of £100.00 plus travel time is charged for this visit which is offset against further design work if required. Based upon your requirements, I will then send you a cost estimate for future design work.

On your confirmation, a detailed survey to scale will then be carried out by myself or if the garden is large or complex I can arrange for a surveyor to carry out the survey for you. This survey will show the main details of the site such as the position of buildings, levels and vegetation and will enable me to produce an accurate design. Photographs and soil samples will be taken at the same time.

From the survey, I will then produce a sketch plan for discussion so that any changes can be made if necessary to ensure a practical and aesthetic design for your garden.

This final coloured plan will show all the main details of the design such as hard landscaping, structures, materials and planting areas to scale. The main trees, hedges and specimen plants will also be named on the plan.
