Nigel Philips trained at Merrist Wood College and has been practising garden design since 1981. In that time he has run his own design and build company and carried out a wide variety of design commissions, including exhibition gardens at local and national shows and winning an award at the Chelsea Flower Show.

He has lectured in related subjects for the Royal Horticultural Society and been involved with running various courses on garden design for the last ten years, both at Plumpton College and other educational establishments.

He is a fellow of the society of Garden Designers and a member of the Institute of Horticulture.
