J A Hughes is both the largest and also oldest Solicitors' Practice in the Vale of Glamorgan

The firm was founded by John Arthur Hughes in 1888 and since that time has grown hugely so that it now has two separate offices in Barry and one in Penarth

Its most recent expansion was in 1999 when the Practices of J A Hughes and Godfrey Evans & Co. merged. It now boasts six Partners who all have responsibility for different areas of work within the Practice.

Stephen Price is based in one of the Barry offices and heads the Personal Injury department. Sandra Horwood is in the same office and runs the Family and Matrimonial department.

Colin Duncan is the Partner in charge of marketing and development and is also involved peripherally in the Criminal department.

Tim Hackett is in the same office in Barry as Colin Duncan and heads both the Criminal, Licensing and Care departments.

Duncan Kennedy has the responsibility of the Probate and Wills section.

Jeremy Davies is based in the Penarth office and is the Partner in charge of the Conveyancing and Commercial department

The firm has a substantial number of other fee-earners in the form of Solicitors, a Licensed Conveyancer, Paralegals and Executives who are attached to the various departments within the Practice, as well as an equally large number of support staff.

The firm is currently listed in the Legal 500 directory and also holds a franchise with the Legal Services Commission to cover various types of work.
